A Study of the Need of Professional Aid, Education and Counseling in Mother¢¥s Child Rearing


Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the need of professional aid education and counseling in mother¢¥s child rearing.
The study was conducted at Health center in Kangreung City April 1 through May 31, 1995, with 256 mothers.
The method used to evaluated the need of professional aid, education and counseling was questionnaire.
The results were as follows
1. According to the study of parental burden over child rearing, a 57.8% of questioners answered that they feel comfortable with little burden. However a 11.3% of questioners responded that burden for child rearing brings about stresses and marital conflict.
2. Unusual behavior of children proved to be rather minimal as the frequency of unusual behavior of 8 questionnaires became an aggregate average of 22.165 points.
However thumb sucking stood top among unusual behaviors, reaching 47.3%.
3. Most questioners admitted a need for professional aid for children¢¥s health care. The aggregate average of 11 questionnaires reached 19.82 points, which represents mothers need professional aid in relating child rearing.
4. The necessity for education and counseling in relation to children¢¥s health care appeared high with aggregate average of 20.05 points in questions.
5. The burden for child rearing and probability of unusual behaviors had some correlations statistically with age of children and birth weight of children. However in cases of need for professional aid on health care and necessity of education and counseling, no significant correlations were found.
